I am a private practice psychoanalytic psychotherapist, elder care consultant and geriatric care manager who has worked with individuals, couples, families and groups in west Los Angeles and Brentwood since 1992. Prior to this, I worked in a variety of social service agencies, engaging with the same populations. I earned my Doctorate in Psychoanalysis at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis, Los Angeles (ICP) in 2008, where I am currently a member, a supervising and training analyst, and active on the ICP Committee for the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program. I earned my Master Degree in Social Work at USC and my Master Degree in Jewish Communal Service at Hebrew Union College in 1985. I have been licensed in California as a Clinical Social Worker (LCS 15186) since 1992.
My experience has included working with young children and their parents, senior adults and their families, employees of corporations dealing with their parents’ care issues as well as preparing for their own retirements, college and graduate students, supervising licensed and unlicensed clinical social workers working toward their clinical hours for licensing, and support groups for persons working on weight loss issues. I have conducted workshops on elder care issues and began the development of an elder care consultation and referral service.
In addition to my formal training, education, and experience, not surprisingly some of my clinical expertise is derived from personal exploration and understanding of my own personal struggles and my work in psychological growth. This "learning from the inside out" aspect of my training has been indispensable in my work with clients.
